On 28 February, a ‘White Coats Protest’ of several thousand doctors, nurses, and students from the city’s universities gathered in Yankin (ရန်ကင်း), Yangon. Police charged the rear of the protest as it began and detained many of the white-coat protesters.

Footage verified by Myanmar Witness shows over 100 protesters being detained. Irrawaddy put the total number of detainees on the day at close to 200.
