According to local media, SAC forces burnt down 700 houses in Thar Zin village on 13 June 2023. Nearby villages, Aing Dan Ma and Pauk Ma, were also badly damaged by fire and around 35 people were reportedly taken hostage by the military during the attacks. A 60-year-old woman was reportedly killed by the fires.

Myanmar Witness geolocated drone footage of the damage using Google Earth. The destroyed areas are visible when comparing 30/05/23 to 19/06/23 on SENTINEL-2 imagery.
